Transmissions from Tau Ceti IV – 001

TIMESTAMP: Log_Range [03.05 > 03.11]

// THE OBJECTIVE
We finally have access to the runner shells and the multiple areas of New Cascadia colony on Tau Ceti IV. These are my observations over the first week.

// FIELD NOTES

  • The Drop: The launch went smoothly. The previous week’s test seems to have paid reasonable dividends for everyone that participated. My vault has been pretty consistently full over the last week. I have many faction rewards that I haven’t claimed because of how full my vault is.
  • Contact: My running experience so far has been a mixture of success and horrible failure. Sometimes I exfil with good loot and sometimes I get blasted 2 minutes into a run. I have noticed that if I make it past the first 5 minutes my chances of exfil go up dramatically. I spent the majority of the first few days focusing on priority contracts. I still have one or two that require me to go to Outpost, but I now have the option to focus on increasing my rep with the different factions. Which has been helping me get my shells better prepared for the uncertainty of future runs.
  • The Find: The Marathon terminals have been activating since 03.07 through 03.10, I think. The runner community has made some pretty good progress at activating everything. In each area there appears to be a set of terminals that connect to each other. When you successfully activate the correct pair, you get an audio clip from Durandal. It seems he’s broken up a poem into multiple parts as some sort of message.
    This has lead to the website https://cryoarchive.systems/ being unveiled and as the community has made progress that page has updated with views of different sections of the Marathon ship.
    As of right now we, also, have two video messages from Bernard Strauss. It does seem like the clips that have been discovered are clips from a speech, probably from the launch of the Marathon Ship expedition. They seem to be part of a series titled ” A New Future Beyond the Sun” and are distinguished by 4A.1 and 9C.3.
    I wonder what Durandal is trying to communicate to us with these clips.

// DEBRIEF
Crew Fill has, understandably, been hit or miss, but when it hits it really hits. My final run before this transmission saw my crew wipe three other crews and complete all three rounds of the Lockdown event. I walked away with some nice mods for my bully and my demolition. The thermal sights are less effective today compared to a week ago, but that did not stop me from downing my fair share of runners that run. I look forward to more intense firefights and giving the gift of silence to my fellow runners.

These are the aforementioned clips from Bernard Strauss
