With GTA 6 set to release this fall (for real this time), I decided to revisit GTA V. I bought this game when it originally came out on the PS3. Which is a crazy thing to say because it’s the only game I can think of that exists on three separate generations of consoles. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were still people playing GTA online on the PS3.

I never beat it when it originally came and when they ported it to the PS4 I picked it up again and probably didn’t get very far in the game. I can recognize the quality of the game, but I usually get tired of open world games after a while. Eventually it made its way to the PS+ collection on PS5 and now here I am trying to get through the story of the game before GTA 6 releases in about 6 months.

The firs thing that really stuck out to me is how well the game aged. Yes it got a slight facelift when it made its way to PC and now PS5, but it still looks pretty good. I wish the controls were different and I guess I could remap the controls, but I find myself having to think about what button to press when I want to reload or do some of the less common actions.

6 months should be plenty of time for me to finish it, but who knows. I don’t even remember if I’ve ever beaten the story for any GTA game. So this might be my first if I actually buckle down and stick with it.
